A brief bio…
“This American anomaly was ‘raised in a house without a television’ by a Baptist preacher in the hills south of Portland, Oregon. Gospel roots soon tapped into the mycelium substrate and this late bloomer skipped right over punk and grunge (and normal guitar tunings) and fortunately stumbled into the post-no-wave NYC scene. Home recording in apartments on 4-track tape with or without the seminal band Hall of Fame were his first forays in music production. Touring Europe with American outcasts Jackie-O Motherfucker strengthened his tendencies to shamanism. Soon he began putting out solo albums which did pour forth from the pool of “freak-folk” and “weird America”. Theo has always played in open tunings on his guitar, he knows not any other way. And electronic and found sounds are always simmering and popping as intricate arrangements for the rich context of his songs and unusual vocals. Also known as an experimental video artist in New York, he began composing soundtracks for his own films whilst there. He left NYC in 2011 for the wilds of NW Canada and a family of four. He plays every fucking day. I think he may have musical tourette’s syndrome.
